At this point, the story is mostly in the hands of our lovely finalists. Things have built to a certain point and I want to leave them the leeway to wrap up the stories they are telling properly.
Still, the last piece of the unabridged history is posted, so the story of Eos that led up to the events of Libertas is now revealed. Use as much or as little of it as you feel necessary.
Part one: The Original Survivor Settlements
Part two: The Development of the Warped
Part three: Gatekeeper Project
Part four: The Eosian Goddess
So, we have our intrepid heroes up on the aging space station which orbits above the planet of Temporus, having entered portals just ahead of fighting behind them. However, they are not alone up there. The space station is home to Gatekeeper, the AI hooked up to the dimensional teleporter that was the one to bring people to Eos. He has control over most of the functions of the station, but communicates the easiest in the command center. Additionally, the Goddess has manifested as Physica and is waiting near Gatekeeper’s core body, where the pair of them have been storing energy while waiting for a catalyst.
Without many followers, the Goddess is relatively weak, but over time, the pair has managed to save up enough divine power for essentially one major miracle with enough left over for a minor one or so. The exact amount that they are capable to do should really be determined by what best suits the plot. Anyway, neither Gatekeeper or the Goddess is a creature of true free will, so they need someone who can form the miracle to determine the future of Temporus.
That’s where our finalist characters come in. They were brought here to be that catalyst, to pick the fate and form of a world to be reborn. Want to send everyone home? Go ahead. Want to restore the original population? You can do that too. Want to have new plants grow and reclaim the abandoned cities, start over from scratch? Yep, that’s cool too. In general, the new form will fix the worst of the tears in reality and the Warp Storms will decrease drastically or even cease entirely. Again, up to you.
Now, it’s not as easy as just walking up to the Goddess and making a wish because Hezekiah made it on board too, along with some bodyguard Warped. He can’t see the Goddess directly (not unless he can get over the idea that she abandoned him), but he wants to stop her plans and destroy her. Also, the portals may still be open and people still are fighting down on the planet below.
The minimum requirements for the finale:
1) Your character. This should be pretty evident. They need to be the center figure in here somewhere.
2) Your opponent’s character. I suggest making some form of resolution for them, not that either of you need me to say that.
3) Gatekeeper, the Goddess, and Hezekiah. They or their influence need to be involved in at least part of the round. You can pick one to focus on, just kind of touch on all three briefly, or make it a big deal. Whatever works best for the round.
4) Your character determining the fate of Temporus. Now, this probably means that they serve as the catalyst with the divine power to make a miracle happen. However, that’s not the only way to do it. If you choose to have no one make a choice and everyone just walks away, you can do that.
Everything else is whatever you want it to be. All the NPCs are fair game to die at this point, or whatever fate you’d like for them. You can cure the Warping, or make it an ongoing struggle for peace and understanding. You can crash the space station and strand everyone. Just tell the story that you feel makes everything complete.
You’ll have plenty of time to write and feel free to ask questions as needed. The deadline is currently set for June 29th at 11:59 PST. That’s three weeks. If either of you think you’ll need more time, let me know.
Thank you all for the time, effort, and love you have put into this.

High above the planet, Gatekeeper watched. Thick clouds and rolling rainbow energy coursed over the sphere, washed red by the light of two weak suns. This was the task he had been created to fulfill. He had already kept his vigil for over a century of this world’s time, though Time had lost its meaning as well in the Breaking. Soon though, he would be unable to watch without aid.
Gatekeeper wished to complete his other charge while he still could.
Some had survived, despite the world, despite the warping, despite the w

GENERAL
1) Be nice. One of the best things about OCTs is the shared community. You might be competing against each other, but you’re also here to help each other grow as writers. Don’t be intentionally rude or disrespectful to anyone.
2) Don’t be a sore loser. In line with the first rule, we’re

These are the tournament judges. We've got fewer judges than ideal, but enough to get started for a tournament this size.

HOST
Hello everyone! I'm an all-around geek, born and bred. I've been reading and writing and drawing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, though it's not my field of study (psychology is). I came to OCTs as a spectator first and then, over a year later, decided to try my hand at one. It was luck, and a well-designed tournament premise, that made me enter and love the literature-only
